Witch Tips That Actually Work (Because I Use Them Myself)

Witchcraft doesn’t always look like candlelit altars and rituals. Most of the time, it’s quiet. It’s in the way I mop my floors, stir my tea, or open the windows to let the air shift. Over the past few years, I’ve picked up a few practices that work. Some were shared with me by other witches. Some came from my family. And honestly, a lot of it came from trying things myself and seeing what worked.

These are things I actually use in my own life. They’ve helped me clear out bad vibes, call in better ones, and feel more grounded in my space. You don’t need to do all of them. Just start with what feels right to you. Keep what works. This is how I do mine.

1. Blow cinnamon through your front door on the 1st of every month

Cinnamon carries fiery energy and is known to attract abundance, luck, and success. Visualize wealth and good fortune flowing into your space as you blow it inward.

2. Add basil to your mop water

Basil invites prosperity and wards off negativity. I like to imagine it scrubbing away energetic debris while it cleans the physical dirt.

3. Turn your broom upside down

Place it bristle-side up behind your front door to keep unwanted visitors away. Old-school trick, still works like a charm.

4. Ditch the “Welcome” mat

It’s cute, sure. But it’s also an open invitation to everything. If you must have one, flip it to face outward or draw sigils beneath it with intention. Be clear about who or what is allowed in.

5. Pay attention to falling photos

Got a wall of memories? If a certain photo keeps falling, it might be telling you something, either about the person in the photo or the energy attached to it.

6. Use moon water as art water

Especially if you sell your art or use it for spellwork. Let the moon bless your creativity.

7. Paint with sigils

For art witches: stain your wood boards or sketchbooks with sigils related to creativity, abundance, or protection.

8. Treat your paintbrush like your wand

What you create carries your energy. Charge your tools the same way you would your altar items.

9. Write on your rolling papers

Ouid witches, draw sigils or write intentions on your joints or blunt wraps. Blow out with purpose, not just habit.

10. Use selenite to refresh your money bowl

No more picking through rice to find crystal chips. Stir the bowl with a selenite stick to cleanse and recharge the energy.

11. Salt your windowsills and doorways

Protective barrier 101. Add black salt if you feel like something’s off.

12. Keep a bell near your front door

Ringing it clears stagnant energy. It also snaps the vibe back if things feel heavy.

13. Wash your mirrors with moon water

Especially after guests leave. Mirrors absorb more than you think.

14. Speak intentions into your tea

Whatever you’re sipping, coffee, tea, or water, whisper your desires into it. Then drink with purpose.

15. Use rosemary for everything

Burn it for cleansing, steep it in your bath, hang it over your door. It’s protective, healing, and smells divine.

16. Place a bowl of water with salt under your bed

Especially during heavy emotional periods. It absorbs energetic sludge while you sleep.

17. Clean your floors from back to front

Push the old energy out the door — don’t trap it inside.

18. Anoint your doorknobs with oil

Mix a drop of protective or prosperity oil and rub it on entry points with intention.

19. Charge your vacuum cleaner

Yes, really. Speak over it or place a crystal in the canister before you clean.

20. Store bay leaves in your wallet

Write wishes or sigils on them, for protection, money, or success.

21. Hang a bundle of herbs in your shower

Eucalyptus, lavender, and rosemary let the steam activate their energy and cleanse you daily.

22. Draw sigils on your soap

Bless your body as you wash. The water carries the spell.

23. Hide crystals in your houseplants

It charges the plant and the space around it. (Make sure they are safe for this purpose)

24. Sleep with a notebook next to your bed

Your dreams are messages. Write them down before they vanish.

25. Keep a jar of cloves by your desk

Cloves protect against gossip, jealousy, and digital negativity. Plus, they smell amazing.

26. Sweep your floors during the waning moon

Best time to get rid of what doesn’t serve — physically and energetically.

27. Use sound to reset a room

Clap in the corners, play a singing bowl, or just blast music with intention.

28. Charge your laundry

Add a few drops of essential oil and speak affirmations while folding. Your clothes carry your energy.

29. Protect your tech

Draw sigils on your phone case or laptop. Even machines need boundaries.

30. Bless your fridge and pantry

Abundance starts where your nourishment lives. Keep it clean and charged.

31. Add crushed eggshells to your garden or doorstep

Known as cascarilla in many traditions, strong protective powder, especially for your home perimeter.

Final Thoughts

Magic isn’t always a ritual. Most of the time, it’s in the small things. The way you stir your soup, make your bed, or light a candle in the dark. The more intentional you are, the more potent your everyday life becomes.
Let your home be your temple. Let your habits be spells ♥
